‘Computer Essentials’ (6 x 2hr)    £120
Covers understanding and use of your PC from the ground up. Avoids ‘techie’ content but does address
 and clarify some ‘jargon’ in simple terms. Explains what the various hardware and software components
 are and why needed. Addresses setting up your PC to your requirements, what the operating system is,
what it does for you and why this is very important aspect. Installing and removing hardware/ software.
Common problems and how to recognise and resolve them.  Very ‘hands-on’ with lots of practice.
 
‘Windows Essentials’ (normally XP)  (3 x 2hr)  £60
 
Three sessions entirely focused on getting to understand the important aspects of your PC’s operating
system and how to set it up the way you want and how to use it do things you didn’t know existed!
Primarily for beginners and inexperienced users
 
‘Mac OS X  Essentials’        (3x2hr) £60
 
 Same as item above but for Macintosh users - find out more about what this operating system from
Apple can do for you and get more from your Mac!

Explains and clarifies connection to and use of the internet in basic terms.

How the Internet works, what you can and can’t expect to do
Web browsers / E-mail: - making them work for you - setting up, changing, attachments
Broadband - how to decide which package is right for you and why.
Wireless at home and away
Again, very ‘hands-on’ with lots of practice

Effective Web searching and validation of source material for reference purposes
Web Browsers - Other options and choices - setting up / cookies / pop-ups
Search Engines - effective use of - are you getting the results you need ?
Sending and retrieving files plus issues with Viruses / Worms / Spy & Adware
 
‘File Handling Essentials’  (3 x 2hr)  £60
Effective methods for adding, sending, receiving and manipulating files on your PC
Text, e-mails, attachments, photos, videos, music, (mpg, jpg, doc, etc)
Storage:- hard disc, folders, memory cards, CDs, DVDs etc - how to use and when.
File manipulation - how and why to adjust file / photo sizes to suit - e.g. e-mail attachments.
How to organise and store files on your PC the way you want ( and retrieve them!)
 
‘Word Processing Basics’       (3 x 2hr) £60
What you need to know in order to set a letter or document out in the way YOU want it
 Based on MicroSoft Word but generally applicable to most word processing software.
Explains what the various relevant terminology means.
Covers, page layouts, headers, footers, fonts, effects, colours, logos, graphics.
Printing, and page setup, 1 offs or multiple collation, double sided (duplex)
‘2-up’ / ‘4-up’ /etc for leaflet production.
                    
‘SpreadSheet Basics’ (Excel)     (3 x 2hr)  £60
Basic introduction to using a spreadsheet
How to set out the sheet / workbook
Basic data entry / formula use / automatic calculations / ‘cell’ relationships
Adding simple charts / graphics
Printing options and set-ups
Useful (e.g.) if you want to set-up a speadsheet for your own bank account(s)
Formula use & automatic calculation of items such as spends / commitments / balances.
 
‘Photo Basics’        (2 x 2hr)  £40
What you basically need to know in order to take pictures with your digital camera.
Add / organise images on your PC, manipulate (reduce /crop / tint / sharpen / etc),          
Printing options / approaches, sending via e-mails, burning to CD /DVD.
Clarifies different requirements for different  needs and purposes.
